SPORTFEST Hong Kong 2026 brings you the Indoor Snowboard Beginner Class, designed to guide beginners into the exciting world of snowboarding step-by-step!

Featuring a specially constructed synthetic dry-ski slope, the setup replicates the sliding feel of real snow, allowing you to enjoy snowboarding right inside the HKCEC in Wan Chai. Helmets, protective gear, and snowboards are all provided on-site—making it super easy for complete beginners to jump right in!

1-Hour Beginner Snowboard Curriculum

Conducted in interactive small groups, professional instructors will guide you step-by-step through snowboarding fundamentals:

  • Gear Knowledge & Safety Essentials: Understand snowboard anatomy, stepping in/out of boots and bindings, and proper protective gear usage.
  • Fundamental Stance & Balance Training: Master proper stance (Regular / Goofy), center-of-gravity shifts, and balance control.
  • Sideslipping & Stopping (Edge Control): Learn speed control and safe stopping using board edges (Heel Edge / Toe Edge).
  • Slope Descent Practice: Step onto the synthetic dry-ski slope to practice downhill sliding and taste the thrill of snowboarding speed!

Quota Maximum 20 persons per day (limited places to ensure quality experience)
Registration Fee HK$150 per person per session (fee includes admission, all workshops, and equipment trial)
Registration Submit online registration on or before 7 August 2026. No on-site walk-ins or waitlists available.
*All confirmed registrations are non-refundable. Quotas are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Each successfully enrolled participant will be entitled to a $100 Columbia gift voucher (redeemable at selected stores; for full terms and conditions, please see the voucher itself).
  • #Free admission is available for children aged 12 or below, seniors aged 60 or above, and individuals with disabilities. Complimentary admission tickets can be collected directly at the on-site ticketing counter.

Regulation

  • All participants must follow the instructions of on‑site staff and must only move within designated areas. Skiing or sliding in non‑designated areas is strictly prohibited.
  • The organizer will provide helmets, protective gear, and snowboards for all participants. Wearing a helmet and protective gear is mandatory for any sliding activity.
  • Participants must arrive at the venue and complete registration within the designated check‑in period on the event day, and must be at the activity area 15 minutes before the session starts. Latecomers will not be given make‑up time or standby placement.
  • All participants (or their parents/guardians) must sign a liability waiver upon entry, agreeing to assume any risks that may arise during the activity.
  • Participants are advised to wear sportswear and long socks. Please avoid wearing jeans or overly loose clothing to ensure safety and comfort while sliding.
  • Participants are responsible for their own belongings. The organizer shall not be held liable for any loss or damage.
  • The organizer reserves the right to adjust the activity schedule according to actual on‑site conditions. Any changes will be announced separately. Thank you for your attention.

  • Participants must read the following notes carefully. Once the registration application is submitted, it indicates that the participant confirms and agrees to accept all terms, and arrangements of the activity.
  • Participants understand and agree that participation in this activity is voluntary. Participants must understand the risks involved and the physical exertion required for this activity and should confirm their physical condition is suitable for cycling before registering. Anyone who is pregnant or suffering from chronic diseases such as heart disease and high blood pressure is not advised to register for this activity.
  • The Organizer, sponsors, and other relevant co-organizers shall not be liable for any property loss, injury, or death sustained by participants while travelling to/from the venue or during the activity.
  • I hereby grant permission to the Organizer and media to use my portrait, name, voice, and personal data for event promotional purposes without further review or compensation.
  • Once an application is accepted, registration fees are strictly non-refundable and non-transferable. A confirmation email will be sent within three working days upon receiving the application. If you do not receive it within this timeframe, please contact the Organizer via email at [email protected] or by phone at (852) 2117 1650.
  • Duplicate registrations for the same session will be treated as a single entry. Excess fees will not be refunded or transferred to other applicants or categories.
  • Walk-in or late registrations will not be accepted.

  • Participants must present either a printed copy or the digital version of the notification email at the registration counter upon arrival.

  • Participants must ensure they are physically fit for strenuous activity. If in doubt, please seek professional medical advice before registering.
  • Participants must clearly understand that this high-intensity physical event requires substantial physical exertion. The Organizer strongly advises participants to monitor their physical condition closely during the event. If you feel unwell at any point, please stop immediately and seek assistance from on-site staff.
  • The Organizer reserves the right to disqualify any participant deemed or suspected to be physically unfit to continue.
  • Public liability insurance has been purchased for this event. However, participants are highly encouraged to arrange their own personal accident insurance.

Severe Weather Arrangements

  • If a Black Rainstorm Warning Signal or Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above is hoisted at or after 6:00 AM, the event scheduled for that specific day will be cancelled.
  • Registration fees are non-refundable if the event is cancelled due to the weather warnings mentioned above.
  • If severe weather conditions or the aforementioned warnings occur while the event is underway, the Organizer reserves the right to alter or cancel ongoing activities. Registration fees remain non-refundable.
  • Participants are advised to check local weather conditions on the morning of the event via the Hong Kong Observatory (Tel: 1878200).
